Pottery Pop-Up: A Response to Dr. Lynne Kvapil
Celebrate the1 year anniversary of the studio at a Pottery Pop-Up! This project is in response to my meeting with archaeologist and Butler University professor Dr. Lynne Kvapil. She spoke to me about her focus on ancient pottery production and how her approach to studying the artifacts is with her hands . I was specifically inspired by how she described matching her fingers to the indentations of the pottery to understand how they were made. This felt like an invitation for me to roll up my sleeves and get some hands on some clay! I’m hand-building pottery shapes inspired by the shapes found in my paintings. The result is to have pinch pots, mini vessels and new paintings with a pottery theme. Can’t wait to ring in 1 year at Factory Arts District!
