Curious About Archaeology
I couldn’t help but be elated of the serendipitous timing of my thirst for archaeological information and the grand opening of the IU Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology. So obviously, I HAD to check it out! Right on IU campus, the museum has multiple curated shows from ancient artifacts, to contemporary pieces, to interactive displays. Looking forward to seeing their ‘City on a River’ exhibition coming April 2025.
Taking initiative to seek out the museum got me thinking.. WHO could I seek out for even more clues into this work. Cue me scouring the internet finding a couple leads/sending out cold emails - but also who wouldn’t love receiving an email from a stranger explaining that they’re enamored in the field they’re in and would love to hear about the work they do! My first meeting with an archaeologist is the day after this newsletter drops. Her name is KayLee Blum, an archaeologist based in Indianapolis working at the Indiana Department of Transportation in the Cultural Resources Office. Can’t wait to recap our meeting in the next newsletter!
